Ether Rag
02:39
|
|||
well there's a can, and it calls your name
it's only $3.99 at the gas station down the way
so put on your dancing shoes, and we'll shake, shake, shake
lord knows, you've got aches to alleviate.
and from your head, down to your toes
from your tailbone, up to the back of your throat
well, it ain't no chore and it ain't no drag
singing along and dancing the ether rag.
picture this: that's you and me, in our sunday best
why don't you keep your expectations low, so you'll be impressed.
that's you and me, so don't be getting so stressed!
well i ain't got the time for them shiny needles,
ain't got no fancy pills to take,
that's why i just inhale and i exhale and i
give my brain cells a break!
so it feels like you're out! and you're losing your grip
you tried standing on solid ground, but your feet they seem to refuse to stick
and the ghosts all around in the room, they keep throwing a fit
you're out, you're falling fast and you're losing your grip!
why don't you just
take a deep breath?
and try to relax?
and we can dance
the ether rag.

They Live!!
03:50
|
|||
so there's a movie theater behind my eyes
and the people in the audience, they talk all the time
and maybe when i'm older, i'll understand why
the film keeps rolling, rolling on by.
and i look at all the billboards, and i feel so good.
standing tall over the old neighborhood
you gotta buy in someday, hey, what do you expect?
you say 'fuck it' for long enough, and it's gonna start finding ways
of fucking you back.
so you sit in the corner, with a beer and a smoke
you smile, you nod, and you laugh at their jokes
but their words are just syllables, strung end to end
so you sit in the corner and keep playing pretend.
i'm telling you, i've lived in squats and i've lived in cars,
i've stayed in the guest house and i've slept in the yard
but every place is the same bunk deal,
every town that i've ever been to,
they've all got the same bunk feel.
so get a pick me up bottle. cos we both need a lift
and we can stand on the corner and look out at the shit
oh, the shit that they feed us and they want us to see
the shit that they want us to think that we need
they pervade and pervert us subliminally
their power is subtle, their power complete
and everything's coming apart at the seams
no sound's coming out but i'm trying to scream
we live in a coma, we live in a dream
it's the same damn channel on every tv
and every day is the same exact scene
and i'm sick of staring out from behind this fucking screen!
they live and we are asleep!
(consume us! consumers!)

Burn It All!
03:13
|
|||
every dollar that i've made
at every show i've ever played
and every place that i've ever signed my name
and everything i've ever bought
on credit, at the company shop
and all the bills that i'll never pay
and all the progress that is claimed
in the name of the modern day and age
and every ballot stuffed in the box
and all of the incentives that
turned the cell blocks into tourist traps
and every bullet that they've ever shot
and all your evidence of entropy
and your dogmatic brand loyalty
and the pride that comes before the fall
and every inch of the rising sea
and all the cops out on the street
and every reason that i feel small
oh, burn it all. oh, burn it all.
from every epicenter of every urban sprawl
through the streets downtown to the empty shopping malls
through the corridors of every city hall
and every brick in every border wall.
oh, burn it all. oh, burn it all.
